American Flyer Electromatic Crane 583A Instructions

These are the installation instructions furnished by the A. C. Gilbert Co. to customers to aid them in the installation and operation of American Flyer equipment. Specifically, this bulletin is for the American Flyer Accessory 583A Electromatic Crane installation instructions.

This awesome accessory has a crane with a magnet that rotates and picks up metallic items and then drops into a train car. The American Flyer Accessory 583A Electromatic Crane included a metal tower, crane, and remote push button. The freight car, transformer, and track were separate items. This accessory was designed to work like a traditional scrap yard.

There were two 583 Crane Accessories produced. The 583 Crane was a one button accessory while the 583A was a two button. When using the one button controller the locomotive would switch directions with each push of the button. The 583A version with the two button controller enabled the toy train operator to pause the train, operate the crane, and then continue on in the original direction.
