American Flyer Trestle Set 747 Instructions
These are the installation instructions furnished by the A. C. Gilbert Co. to customers to aid them in the installation and operation of American Flyer equipment. Specifically, this bulletin is for the American Flyer Accessory 747 Trestle Set Instructions.
Gilbert produced a variety of trestle sets. Trestle sets were used to raise the track over a distance so that one set of tracks crossed over another. This set is the Figure 8 Trestle Set model 747. There were also Trestle Bridges which we will not cover in this post. Other trestle sets included the following:
American Flyer Accessory 763 Trestle Mountain Set
American Flyer Accessory 770 Girder Trestle Set
American Flyer Accessory 780 Trestle Set
American Flyer Accessory 781 Trestle Abutment Set
American Flyer Accessory 782 Trestle Abutment Set Extension
American Flyer Accessory 783 Trestle Set Extension
American Flyer Accessory 1-1024A Trestle Set
The Gilbert Trestle Set 747 was made from cardboard and was preprinted and stamped. To install the enthusiast must remove all of the separate pieces and piles and assemble. Then install the track on top of the trestles starting at the smallest height and getting larger. Eventually the height of the trestle will allow for tracks to pass underneath like a real railroad bridge.
