American Flyer Sawmill 23796

Gilbert made a number of operating accessories based on lumber. This accessory was made from 1957 to 1964. This working saw mill gave operators something to haul. The accessory connected to the transformer with a push button for operation. After each rotation, a plank appears, as if cut from the log, and the arm lifts the plank then drops it into the waiting car you park beside the mill. Features included durable, long lasting construction and it operates with any AC model railroad transformer. The sawmill had an operating saw blade and an auto log feeder.

The American Flyer Accessory 23796 Sawmill was different than the three different log loaders that were also produced. The primary difference was that the sawmill actually appeared to cut the wood vs. simply loading it into the freight car. Another big difference was that the log loaders were both push button and track tripped.

Gilbert made three different types of log loaders:

American Flyer Accessory 751 Log Loader
American Flyer Accessory 751A Log Loader
American Flyer Accessory 787 Log Loader
American Flyer Accessory 23787 Log Loader
