American Flyer Locomotive 322 Hudson
The American Flyer Locomotive 322 Hudson was produced from 1946 to 1949 and modeled after the New York Central Railroad. American Flyer Hudson Locomotives had a 4-6-4 wheel arrangement would have had 4 leading, 6 driving, and 4 trailing wheels. There were 10 models of the Hudson 4-6-4 produced by Gilbert.
American Flyer Train Set 48T
The first American Flyer Set produced also came with track, an uncoupler, and a transformer. The “T” in the set number indicated that a transformer was included. The set was cataloged in 1948 and 1949 and several un-cataloged versions also exist.
American Flyer Locomotive 372 Union Pacific GP 7 Diesel
The American Flyer Locomotive 372 was produced from 1955 to 1957. American Flyer had three basic types of diesel trucks. Diesel naming convention moved away from the steam Whyte system and focused on Axels instead of wheels. GP7 trucks with two powered axles, PA/PB trucks with simulated three powered axles (also used on the EP-5 Electric style locomotive) and the Baldwin diesel trucks had two powered axles.
American Flyer Gabe the Lamplighter
In 1958 Gilbert took the Floodlight Tower accessory and added some action to it in the form of Gabe the Lamplighter. At the push of a button, Gabe takes a step up the ladder on the framework of the floodlight tower. When Gabe reaches the top, the floodlights come on.
American Flyer Rotating Radar Tower
The Gilbert American Flyer HO product line introduced the No. 35210 Rotating Radar Tower in 1962. This product was also made by the Ideal company for Gilbert. In addition to the built up version, the Rotating Radar Tower also came in kit form as the No. 35273 in the HO product line.
